Retainers

WHAT are Retainers?

Retainers are appliances designed to keep your teeth in their corrected position. It is important that you wear them as instructed. All patients need to wear retainers after treatment.

WHY should we wear Retainer?

Retainers are just as important as the braces that straightened your teeth. Now that your teeth are straight, wearing your retainers as advised by your orthodontist is very important. If you do not, it is likely that your teeth will move.

Types of Retainers:

  • Removable

  • Fixed.

We will advise you which retainer you need.

Interceptive Orthodontics before braces:

  • Palatal extension devices : A palatal expander is a device which is used to widen the upper jaw so that upper and lower teeth occlude properly.

  • Bite opening devices : A deep bite is a malocclusion in which the upper front teeth excessively overlap the lower front teeth when back teeth are closed. This is also called an overbite or closed bite. To correct deep bite cases bite blocks are placed to open up the bite.
